The Second Shore
Nell Calloway returns to Amity Harbor intending to empty her grandmother Ruth’s house, settle the estate and leave before the past can ask anything of her. Instead, she finds a wooden box filled with more than sixty years of letters to God. In Ruth’s private words are questions Nell thought faithful people were never supposed to ask: Where were you? Why did this happen? What does belief mean when loss remains?
A reflective Christian novel about grief, doubt, forgiveness, family and the ordinary choices through which people begin to come home. Each of the six parts closes with a Scripture-based reflection connecting Nell’s journey with biblical themes of grace, lament, mercy, service, restoration and hope.
